The Second Edition of Textbook on Indonesian Competition Law.
This text book is an enhancement edition of the textbook first published back in 2009. This book is a unifying symbol for differences in academic and legal practitioners’ views in translating various aspects of Indonesian competition law, and understanding how the competition authority uses the rules.
The first ten years of the implementation of competition law, the field of law and economics of competition has not developed as expected. Institutions of higher education still teach the law of competition policy and law in a limited way. The teaching is based on a limited understanding of lecturers, so it is not uncommon for a university to understand the substance of a particular competition law different from other universities. At that time, KPPU’s commissioners worked together with some legal experts to make a reference that would become a common ground. Since then the textbook of competition law has been compiled.
This textbook is the only textbook of business competition law issued by the competition authority and used nationally. Currently, the textbook is not only used by universities, but also by court judges and legal practitioners. And become the main reference in the preparation of competition law curriculum at university and regular education for District Court judges. This book is compiled with the contribution of our partner, German International Cooperation (GIZ), which helped make the composition of this competition law textbook a part of the organization’s priorities.
This second edition was prepared to observe the significant developments that took place since 2010, in particular with the issuance of Government Regulation no. 57/2010 concerning Merger or Consolidation of Business Entities and Company’s Shares that may result in Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Competition, KPPU Regulation no. 1/2010 on Case Handling Procedures, new guidance articles, the enactment of the ASEAN economic community, and the amendment discourse on business competition law. It is hoped that this book will be complemented by various derivatives from a textbook, such as a syllabus as well as a standardized presentation of all the substances in the book. To help alleviate the burden of academics so as to increase the allocation of resources to the development of various analytical methodologies through research in the field of law and business competition economics.
