The handling case of acquisition of PT. Alfa Retailindo (Alfa) by PT Carrefour Indonesia (Carrefour) by Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) was noted as Case No. 09/KPPU-L/2009 about allegation of violation of Law No. 5/1999 concerning Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition (Law No.5/1999). This case was related to the monopoly allegation and or unhealthy competition with first proof of violation indication of PT Carrefour Indonesia on article 17 paragraph (1) Jo article 25 Law No. 5/1999.

The Investigator Team whom consisted of Dedie S. Martadisastra (Chairman), Tadjuddin Noer Said, and Sukarmi handled the case since March 31, 2009. The facts that were found during the process of inspection will be investigated at the moment in preliminary examination that was scheduled to end on May 12, 2009.

In principle, all the process of handling case constantly refer to Commission Regulation (Perkom) No. 1/2006 about Handling Cases Procedure. The case related to Carrefour at this time was the case with the new substance and not by opening again the previously Carrefour case (Decision No. 02/KPPU-L/2005) or on the basis of various of other assumptions towards KPPU decision. So, KPPU spurring to the community to giving together the positive view towards the existence of law competition and honored each process of competition law enforcement.
