The Hearing between the KPPU and the Commission VI of the House of Representatives

On Wednesday, 2nd June 2010, the Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) held a Hearing with the Commission VI of the House of Representatives (Komisi VI DPR) that is in charge of Trade, Industry, Investment, Cooperatives, Small-and Medium-Size Enterprises (SMEs) and State-Owned Enterprises (SoEs), and National Standardization. The Meeting agenda was to discuss the 2011 Government Work Plan (RKP) with a theme: “the acceleration of economic growth with justice and supported with strengthened governance and central and regional synergies.” Besides, the 2011 National Budget Plan was also discussed, in which the policies and programs of KPPU as outlined in the 2011 National Budget Plan shall be adjusted to the 2011 Government Work Plan (RKP).

The Commission VI Meeting was led by  Ir. Nurdin Tampubolon from Hanura Fraction (the fraction of a political party named Partai Hati Nurani Rakyat). The Commission was represented by its Chairman: Prof.Dr. Dr.Tresna P. Someardi and Vice Chairman: Dr.AM. A. M.Tri Anggraini, the KPPU’s Commissioners: Tajudin Noer Said, S. Dedie Martadisastra  and A. Ramadan Siregar and Task-Executing Person (Plt) for Secretary-General, Head of Public Relations Bureau, the Head of Competition Policy Bureau, Daily Task-Executing Person (Plh) for the Administration Head, the Commission’s Expert Staff and the KPPU’s Secretariat Staff.

The Hearing was held to discuss the KPPU’s performance achievements during 2010 based on actual implementation of the KPPU’s work programs and budget absorption in 2010 currently in progress. Furthermore, performance evaluations, achievements of work plans, and absorptions of the budget will be the things to be considered in allocating the KPPU’s budget in the 2011 State Budget. Within the ongoing 2010 fiscal year, the KPPU has been showing a very good performance. Even in some aspects, the KPPU’s performance has exceeded previously set targets and henceforth its budget has been absorbed to the optimum.

In conclusion, the Commission VI Meeting gave generous appreciation to the KPPU as an institution that has succeeded in making commodities available to the public needs in sufficient amounts but with reasonable prices in order that one of social welfare aspects could be made real. For that reason, the KPPU shall always be given supports and appreciations for its all performance achievements in the actualization of social welfare.
