Opening Ceremony of the 2JICF.
Jakarta (24/10) – Held at Ramayana Hotel Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, the 2nd Jakarta International Competition Forum (2JICF) was opened with an opening ceremony attended by a series of ministers of working cabinets, international competition experts, and KPPU Commissioners.
At the Opening of 2JICF with the theme “Disruptive Innovation, Competition Policy & Challenges to Emerging Markets”, Chairman of KPPU M. Syarkawi Rauf said that the Jakarta International Competition Forum (JICF) is a multi-stakeholder forum that has been initiated by KPPU since 2015 and held on a bi-annual basis, with the aim of sharing information and knowledge as well as values related to growing business issues, both national and trans-boundary and globally, with a number of business competition stakeholders.
“The 2 JICF theme was taken, aiming to give Indonesia how to quickly adapt and anticipate the development of the world of competition in the growth of digital economy, and its impact on competition. This event also shows that Indonesia, ready to commit to develop competition policy in Indonesia and the world “, pukas Syarkawi in opening speech.
The event was opened by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution, and attended several ministers, namely Rudiantara (Minister of Communication and Informatics), Budi Karya Sumadi (Minister of Transportation), Bambang Brodjonegoro (Minister of National Development Planning Agency), and representatives from the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Home Affairs, Police of the Republic of Indonesia, conference’s Panelists, as well as representatives of friendly countries.
KPPU also gives the highest appreciation to the partners of KPPU in developing competition in Indonesia. The “Favorite Initiatives of Competition Issues” was awarded to the working partners of KPPU incorporated in the food stabilization during Ramadhan and Idul Fitri 2017, namely Ministry of Agriculture, Police of the Republic of Indonesia, and Ministry of Commerce. Awards were also given to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Development Planning Agency, for their support and initiative in supporting the performance of KPPU.
In addition, KPPU also gave the award of “The Most Active Media Coverage on Competition Issues” to two media companies , namely Bisnis Indonesia (print media) and Metro TV (electronic media), for their active support in promoting competition news and contribute to the improvement of public awareness.
