KPPU Attends The 8th ASEAN Competition Conference.

Phnom Penh (11/15) – Indonesia Competition Commission (ICC) Commissioner Dinni Melanie attended The 8th ASEAN Competition Conference: “Attaining Milestones and Addressing Challenges” which held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on 14-15 November 2019. This conference aimed to build regional awareness about the importance of business competition law and policy towards strengthening ASEAN economic integration.

The conference which has been held since 2011, provides space for all ASEAN member countries and related stakeholders to build networks, share best practices, and discuss issues that arise in the implementation of ASEAN business competition laws and policies in the present and the future.

The conference was opened by the Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak. Dinni, who became a panelist in Panel Discussion 3, took the theme of The Control of Cartels, and explained important articles related to cartels in Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition, namely those related to pricing, geographic allocation, market allocation, and bid rigging. Dinni also explained the case handling procedure in ICC. “Anyone who knows or suspects that business actors have violated this law, they can report to ICC,” she said.

In addition to being a panelist, Dinni also met with the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, namely Y.M. Sudirman Haseng and have a light discussion with H.E. Pan Sorasak. (LSG / IP)
